KANCHEEPURAM, JULY 19. The Tiruvallur Collector, Kumar Jayant, has directed the education department officials to inspect all schools in the district and submit reports to him before Friday. In a release, the Collector said the authorities of all schools, which have thatched roofs, should immediately replace them with fireproof roofs and submit compliance reports before July 30. A district-level committee comprising the Collector, the Chief Educational Officer, the District Educational Officer, the District Elementary Education Officer and representatives of the Parent Teachers Association would inspect the various schools to see if the instructions were being followed. The recognition granted to the schools, which did not abide by the directive before July 30, would be cancelled, the Collector said.
