National Security Council meets

NEW DELHI,
JULY 19.
The first meeting of the National Security Council (NSC), chaired by the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, today took stock of the security reforms process initiated after the Kargil conflict. The NSC decided to meet more frequently and agreed to interact with the National Security Advisory Board on an institutional basis. It also reviewed the status of the Naga peace accord.
An official release stated that the NSC "reviewed the National Security Council system. It also took stock of the security reforms process initiated in May 2001 in pursuance of the recommendations made by the Group of Ministers.''
