Two women robbed of gold chains

BANGALORE, JULY 19. Two women were robbed of their gold chains in Malleswaram and Sanjaynagar police station limits on Sunday.

The police, who suspect that the same culprits were involved in both the cases, said two youths, who came on a motorcycle, snatched the gold chain, put at Rs. 10,000, of Sharada when she was standing in front of her house on 16th Cross, Malleswaram, at 7 p.m. The Malleswaram Police have registered a case.

In the other incident, the police said, two youths, who were also motorcycle borne, snatched the gold chain, put at Rs. 40,000, of Shanthamma at 2nd Main, KEB Layout, at 8.30 p.m. She was returning home from a shop.

The Sanjaynagar Police have registered a case.

A similar incident was reported in KEL Layout on June 23 when two motorcycle-borne men snatched a gold chain, put at Rs. 10,000, from Manjula Shet at around 8 p.m. when she was on her way home from a shop.

Killed in accidents: Two pedestrians were killed in separate accidents on Sunday in the city.

Uma (28) of Ashoknagar, off Hanumanthanagar, was seriously injured when a car hit her on 4th Main Road, Ashoknagar. She died in hospital.

The Basavanagudi Traffic Police seized the car and arrested the driver.

In the other incident, a construction labourer, Jayaram (35), of Nandini Layout, was killed on the spot when a van ran him over on Ring Road near Nandini Layout.

The Rajajinagar Traffic Police seized the van and arrested the driver.

Arrested: The Kadugondanahalli Police on Sunday arrested Jeevan Arulappa of Mestripalya on charges of murdering Ramachandra Murthy (35), alias Dorai.

The police said the accused smashed Murthy's head with a boulder on July 9 over a land dispute.
