Master plan for developing four newly added wards

BANGALORE, JULY 19. The Mayor, P.R. Ramesh, has asked the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) officials to chalk out a master plan for the development of Devarajeevanahalli, Kadugondanahalli, Kavalbyrasandra and Sagayapuram, which are among the wards newly added to the jurisdiction of the civic body.

During his inspection of these wards on Monday, the Mayor directed the Deputy Commissioner (East), N. Jayaram, to prepare the plan within a month.

A sum of Rs. 15 crore had been set aside in this year's budget for the development of 27 newly added wards, he added.

Residents of Islampur, Samadhannagar, Basavanagar and Hosabagalurnagar slums complained to Mr. Ramesh that their areas did not have basic amenities. They urged him to take steps to provide regular drinking water supply, proper underground drainage lines, asphalted roads and better storm-water drains immediately in their areas. The Mayor asked the officials to ensure that their complaints were redressed at the earliest. He promised the residents that they would be soon provided with the amenities they had sought. The civic body would consult other stakeholders and prepare the master plan, he added.

Earlier, he inspected BMP's playground at Sagayapuram, and promised the residents that the facility would be upgraded at a cost of Rs. 25 lakh.

He visited the shishu vihar run by the civic body in the area, and noticed that the students did not have drinking water facility. He asked the officials to provide the school with a water connection.

At Kadugondanahalli, the Mayor noticed that garbage from a firm was being thrown on the main road.

He immediately directed the officials to close the firm and impose a fine on its proprietors.

Prasanna Kumar, Yelahanka MLA; the area corporators, T.M. Muniswamappa and Marimuthu; the Medical Officer (East), Nagarbet; the Chief Horticultural Officer, A. Narayanswamy; and Mr. Jayaram accompanied the Mayor.
