NEW DELHI, JULY 19. The mercury today soared to four degree above normal in the Capital with no revival of the monsoon in sight. Delhiites are already reeling under a severe water and power crisis. The city saw moderate showers in some parts on Saturday, the first after the July 5 rain that had been described as the arrival of the monsoon by the Met department. However, Saturday's showers had brought relief only for a brief period. The Met department today said there will be no rains for at least another three to four days. ``The monsoon activity has weakened all over the country except in the North East,'' India Metereological Department(IMD) Deputy Director General Omkari Prasad told UNI. He said the low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal has petered out and there was no possibility of sustained rains in the Capital. The maximum temperature in the city was recorded at 38.8 degree celsius, was four degree above normal. The minimum temperature recorded was at 28.2, one degree above normal. The ground water and Yamuna water level is going down due to lack of rains and if the monsoon fails or is further delayed, the alrerady existing water crisis is likely to aggravate further.
