NEW DELHI, JULY 19. An alleged big time drug supplier and three drug peddlers have been arrested by the Narcotics Branch of the Delhi police in the past few days. The police recovered 5 kg heroin from their possession. According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Narcotics), D.L. Kashyap, the Branch received a tip-off that two persons would come towards Siddheshwar Mahadev temple on Patparganj Road to deliver a heroin consignment on July 16. Subsequently, a trap was laid and two persons -- Mohammad Afzal and Muqdas, -- were arrested after the police recovered four kg of heroin from their possession. During interrogation, they disclosed that both were residents of Badayun in Uttar Pradesh. Afzal disclosed that he earlier practiced as a doctor at Badayun but then shifted to drug trade to make easy money. He revealed that he used to procure heroin from Ghanshyam (35) of Badayun. At his instance, the police mounted a raid and arrested Ghanshyam, who is allegedly a notorious drug supplier. In another case, a 32-year-old resident of Meerut in Uttar Pradesh, Prahlad, was arrested from near Shyam Lal College while he was carrying 1 kg of heroin in a polythene bag. At his instance, the police have sent a team to Ghaziabad to arrest the drug supplier. Mr. Kashyap said the seized heroin is worth Rs. 5 crore.
