Cloudy sky forecast

NEW DELHI JULY 19. The weatherman has forecast a partly cloudy sky with thundery developments/light rain accompanied with squalls in some parts of the Capital on Tuesday.

The maximum and minimum temperature recorded at Safdarjung on Monday was 38.8 and 28.8 degrees Celsius, while Palam recorded a maximum of 39 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 27.8 degrees Celsius.

At Safdarjung, the maximum and minimum humidity recorded was 67 and 31 per cent respectively. Palam recorded a maximum humidity of 79 per cent while the minimum was 39 per cent.

Body found

NEW DELHI JULY 19. The body of a 40-year-old man was found with his head crushed behind a public school in Sector 13 of Dwarka today.

Police said the victim of medium height had both his hands and feet bound and his head looked smashed using a blunt object. He was wearing a grey shirt and dark-grey pants. A case of murder has been registered at the Uttam Nagar police station in the West District.

Cash looted

NEW DELHI JULY 19. Unidentified robbers looted Rs 3.5 lakh from an oil packaging company in Nangloi. The incident occured at around 6.30 pm when two armed men barged into R D Food Products on the main Rohtak Road in Nangloi and walked away with the cash after threatening the staff with kattas.

The firm belonged to one Satish Goyal, police said adding a case has been registered and investigations are on to trace the culprits.

Remanded

NEW DELHI JULY 19. A Delhi Court today remanded Delhi zoo murder accused Nikhil in judicial custody for 14 days.

Delhi Police produced Nikhil before Metropolitan Magistrate Nikhil Saxena, who remanded him in judicial custody till August one.

Nikhil was nabbed by the police on charges of killing his girl friend Kanchan Verma on Saturday morning near the tiger's enclosure inside the zoo.

The accused has allegedly confessed to having committed the crime due to her friendship with another person who was working with her.

Painting contest

NEW DELHI JULY 19. A special painting competition was jointly organised by the Nehru Bal Samiti and the Indo-Russian Council for Child Development at the Russian Cultural Centre here today. Over 500 children from 35 educational institutions from Delhi and the neighbouring towns participated in the competition.

About 120 paintings have been selected for awards, which would be presented in August.
