This Day That Age
The Soviet News Agency Tass carried a report from Moscow on July 19 that "agreement between the participants of the Geneva Conference on Indo-China has been reached on major questions." It gave the points on which agreement had been reached as: a temporary demarcation line in Viet Nam, control of the observation of the ceasefire agreement, the time for holding general elections in Viet Nam, Laos and Cambodia and the time for withdrawing all foreign troops from these three States. In Geneva, the French Premier, M. Pierre Mendes-France, when asked by reporters if peace was in sight, replied, ``I hope so.''
