Nellore
By Our Staff Reporter
NELLORE, JULY 20. Buduru Srinivasulu, member, National Commission for Scheduled Tribes, said that a survey on Girijan population in Nellore district would be completed at the earliest. Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, he said the number of Girijans in the district would come to 4 lakhs. The Integrated Tribal Development Agency was undertaking the survey to ensure that the benefits of Girijan welfare actually reached them. Admitting lapses in implementation of schemes meant for tribal welfare, he said it was primarily due to the nomadic nature of the community and illiteracy. The Nakkala community in the district has been recognised as scheduled tribe, he said.
