Ban renewal unlikely

The Government may not renew the ban on People's War and its six outfits, which lapses on Thursday. The Home Minister said at a press conference that he would consult the Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, on Thursday and then respond. It was on May 21, 1992, that the ban was announced on the PW and its outfits by the then Chief Minister, N. Janardhan Reddy. The late N. T. Rama Rao lifted it in 1995. However, N. Chandrababu Naidu reimposed the ban in 1996.
