BSNL to expand pre-paid Cellone connections

CHENNAI,
JULY 20.
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) Tamil Nadu Telecom Circle is currently working out distribution modalities to make available pre-paid CellOne connections in all areas.
``We already have 2.89 lakh pre-paid cellular users out of the 4.03 lakh subscriber base of Cellone connections at the end of June this year'', said R. Ramesh, General Manager (Marketing) here yesterday.
With 260 towns covered already in the State, he said there were more than 1.14 lakh post-paid Cellone connections in its fold. Within a short span of time, the BSNL, he said put up 571 Base Tower Stations (BTS) to ensure wider coverage, especially on the highways.
While the Tamil Nadu Circle will open up more pre-paid connections in the next three or four days, he said the BSNL was fast emerging as the number one player in the mobile telephony.
