PARKAL (WARANGAL DT.), JULY 20. The district administration has pressed into service four special teams of police to nab the moneylenders involved in beating up of a farmer, K. Sanjeeva Reddy last mid-night . The Revenue Divisional Officer, Damodar Reddy, along with the MRO and police officials reached the Rayaparthi village to conduct an enquiry into the incident. According to him, Sanjeeva Reddy owed Rs. 2.80 lakhs to six moneylenders in the villages of which, he paid back Rs. 2 lakhs. The moneylenders had been trying to secure the rest of the money from him. They demanded that Mr. Reddy give his land if he could not pay the money back. However, he expressed his inability to part with his land. The moneylenders - T. Ravinder Reddy, Raji Reddy, Ch. Malla Reddy, Sudhakar Reddy and two others approached the police for a truce. When they came to know that Sanjeev Reddy had complained of his plight to the Help Line set up at district collectorate, the moneylenders, fearing action, allegedly took Sanjeev Reddy to a nearby school where they tied him and beat him up severely. They also tried to hang him to death but when his family members pleaded for mercy and promised to repay their money, they let him go after taking his signatures for mortgaging his land. Mr. Sanjeev Reddy was left at his house in a bad condition. His wife, who saw him in a bad condition, yelled for help. He narrated the incident to the villagers who gathered there. The Parkal SI, B. Kishan, said cases were registered against the accused.
