Two government offices set ablaze

IMPHAL, JULY 21. Two government offices were set ablaze even as an indefinite curfew was relaxed for seven hours from 5 a.m. today in various parts of the four valley districts of Manipur.

Unidentified persons set afire the Government Veterinary Buffalo Farm and office at Wabgai in Thoubal district and the gram panchayat office in Bishenpur district on Tuesday night.

With this, the number of government offices set afire in the State during the current spell of agitation against the alleged killing of Thangjam Manorama by Assam Rifles has gone up to nine, official sources said.

Security measures have been tightened in curfew-bound areas of the valley districts of Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal and Bishenpur.

Arrested

The Federal Party of Manipur MLA, L. Ibomcha Singh, was today arrested along with his supporters for defying curfew near Raj Bhavan demanding the withdrawal of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act, 1958.
