NEW DELHI, JULY 21. The Delhi police have extended assistance to their Jharkhand counterparts in executing the non-bailable warrant issued by a Jamtara court for the arrest of the Union Coal Minister, Shibu Soren, in connection with his alleged involvement in the 1975 Chirrudih massacre. A Jharkhand police team, which arrived here on Tuesday, met the Delhi Police Commissioner, K.K. Paul, this morning seeking help to arrest Mr. Soren who might be in the Capital. Dr. Paul asked the team to hold a meeting with the Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi), Anita Roy, for cooperation. "We are providing all kind of support to them as per law," said Ms. Roy. She said that around noon, a Jharkhand police team accompanied by her subordinates went to Mr. Soren's North Avenue official residence and pasted copies of the warrant on the wall. The police also questioned those working there about the whereabouts of Mr. Soren. Some Jharkhand police personnel have already been posted around his residence.
