TDP stages rasta roko in Krishna delta

By Our Staff Reporter

VIJAYAWADA, JULY 21. Telugu Desam Party (TDP) activists and farmers, on Wednesday, staged rasta roko at several places in the Krishna delta protesting against the failure of the State Government to release water from the Nagarjunasagar reservoir to raise seedbeds. Rasta roko was staged in all mandal headquarters in the delta region.

The TDP had given a call for agitation after laying siege to the Prakasam barrage on Monday. The party along with its political ally, BJP, has demanded the release of 3,000 cusecs of water everyday from the dead storage of the Nagarjunasagar reservoir for raising seedbeds.

The former Vijayawada MP, Gadde Ramamohan, the former Kankipadu MLA, Y. Nageswara Rao, the TDP district president, T.D. Janardhana Rao, and others participated in the rasta roko organised on the Vijayawada-Machilipatnam highway at Kankipadu. Activists and farmers staged rasta roko on National Highway No.5 at Kesarapalli, Atukuru, Pedautupalli and Telaprolu.
