JD(U) will launch farmers' stir: Fernandes

NAVALGUND (DHARWAD DISTRICT),
JULY 22.
The Janata Dal (United) is finalising a plan to launch an agitation in support of the cause of farmers, George Fernandes, party President and former Union Minister, has said.
Addressing a farmers' rally held here on Wednesday to mark the "martyrs' day" celebration, he said that the governments at the Centre and in the States had been given time to address farmers' problems, and now the party would launch an agitation to ensure that justice was done to them.
Recalling the days of the struggle for a fair deal for workers, Mr. Fernandes noted the farmers had supported it.
But he was distressed that the working class was now not evincing interest in farmers' problems, he said.
