Grosjean quells Jeanpierre's challenge

INDIANAPOLIS, JULY 22. It took him three sets, but Sebastien Grosjean finally did what several other seeded players could not do on Wednesday in the second round of the RCA Championships — win a match against a lesser opponent.

After dropping a 9-6 tie-breaker to Julien Jeanpierre in the first set, third-seeded Grosjean took control to win the next two sets 6-2, 6-2 and move into the round of 16.

Garrigues advances

At Palermo, Italy, second-seeded Anabel Medina Garrigues of Spain advanced to the quarterfinals of the $110,000 Palermo International Tournament, defeating Roberta Vinci of Italy 7-6(3), 6-2.
