Student falls from bus

ERODE, JULY 22 . An 18-year-old student sustained injuries when she fell from the bus travelling on footboard today. According to the police, the incident occurred after the TNSTC bus took off from near Karuvelampalayam. The bus proceeding from Erode to Kodumudi, had taken in over 30 students of Unjalure Government Higher Secondary School, who possessed free bus pass.

Due to heavy crowd some students, including a few girls, travelled on footboard, and Radhamani of Class X, fell from the running bus and sustained head injury and swooned.

She was admitted to a private hospital at Moolapalayam here. The Collector, D. Karthikeyan, who visited the hospital, said that the condition of the girl was stable.

Meanwhile, the villagers of Karuvelampalayam, staged a road roko demanding that TNSTC and the district administration operate special buses for schoolchildren during peak hours. The police officials rushed to the spot and diverted the traffic. Pacified by the police, the crowd dispersed after thirty minutes.
