PONDICHERRY, JULY 22. Shops and business establishments in Pondicherry remained closed today to mourn the death of children in the Kumbakonam school fire on July 16. The call for closure of the shops was given by merchants' organisations. Officers and around 600 volunteers of the Pondicherry unit of National Cadet Corps (NCC) took out a silent procession in Lawspet near here today condoling the death of children. Group Commander of NCC Headquarters here, Col K. Venugopal and the Commanding officer of l (P) Indep Coy of NCC, Lt Col. S Prakash were among those who participated in the procession. .
