NEW DELHI, JULY 22. Three Members of Parliament from Kerala have sought the Union Home Minister, Shivraj Patil's intervention in securing the People's Democratic Party (PDP) leader, Abdul Nazir Maudany's release on bail. Mr. Maudany has been lodged in the Coimbatore Jail for the past six years. Stating that the PDP leader suffered from multiple ailments, the three MPs have noted that "imprisonment without trial denied human rights and infringes the Fundamental Rights guaranteed by the Constitution''. According to them, Mr. Maudany should be released from jail and his trial expedited. The three MPs who have made this appeal on behalf of the PDP leader are T.K. Hamza (CPI-M), Sebastian Paul (CPI-M Independent) and M.P. Veerendrakumar.
