HYDERABAD, JULY 22. The 45-day Indian Youth volleyball camp, in preparation for the next year's Asian championship, concluded with a word of advice from Dronacharya Shyam Sunder Rao and former India captain Tilakam Gopal at the Kotla Vijaya Bhaskara Reddy Indoor Stadium here today. The 32 trainees, monitored by a panel of four coaches including chief coach Chandan Singh, were given a real insight of what dedication and commitment mean in training and reminded the youngsters how in early 90s a totally raw team was moulded into a winning combination at the Asian level and took India to the World Championship only for the second time. It is informed that a simultaneous camp for juniors and seniors is being held in Kolkata and the best of the talent from the two camps would be pooled together for the future training sessions. Mr A.S.V. Prasad, Technical Advisor to State Government (Sports), hoped that the boys translate their abundance of talent into performance. Ms. Sumita Dawra, vice-chairman and managing director of SAAP, who was the chief guest, assured of continued Government support to all the deserving sportspersons through similar camps. "We only wish some of the players from this camp will go on to don the national colours in the bigger international events," she said. Mr.L. Venkatram Reddy, secretary of APVA, proposing vote of thanks, hoped that the next camp would also be held in Hyderabad.
