Bill to rename varsity

A press release issued here on Thursday said this would be helpful to small and marginal farmers. Recently the State Level Bankers Committee (SLBC) decided to proactively take steps to mitigate the hardship of farmers, particularly in the cases where the breadwinner had committed suicide.
Seminar on women protection
Speakers regretted dilution laws of late, particularly under Section 398 (A) as more often than not, it is the in-laws who are the causative factors of domestic violence. The meeting ended with an appeal to the Assembly to take up women's issues regularly to protect their interests. However, the meeting coordinated by the Congress MLA, N. Neelavathi, and attended by the Tourism Minister, J. Geetha Reddy, could not attract the attention of other women legislators though invited. The meeting was addressed by Anjana Sinha, IPS, Punyavathi, AIDWA president, A.B.K. Prasad, journalist, and Bharathilaxmi, advocate, High Court, apart from the two Congress representatives.
New intelligence official
The Vizianagaram Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration), S. Ranga Reddy, was made as Squadron Commander, Greyhounds. N. Srinivasa Rao, who was recently promoted to the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police, was posted Assistant Commandant of Special Protection Force.
Three of family found dead
According to the police, Ch. Satyanarayana (55), his wife, Soubhagyalakshmi (48), and son, Anandakumar (25), were found dead at their residence on Old State Bank road at Narasapur on Thursday. They reportedly left behind a suicide note in which they said financial problems had forced them to resort to the extreme step. The police said Satyanarayana, a retired RTC conductor, incurred heavy losses in business.
Two struck dead by lightning
Maturi Babu of Kannareddy village in Nagireddipet mandal died when he was struck by lightning at Argul village of Jakranpalli mandal.
