Shimoga
By Our Special Correspondent
SHIMOGA, JULY 22. The vendors who were evicted by the police from the footpaths on the main roads in the city held a demonstration on the premises of the Deputy Commissioner's office here on Thursday. They urged the district administration to allow them to continue business in the same places. The vendors, who took out a procession, promised that they would carry out their business without causing any inconvenience to the pedestrians. The demonstrators who resisted the eviction initially suggested to the authorities to allow them to do business as a temporary arrangement on the premises of the old taluk office. They said they had been finding it difficult to sustain themselves after they had been evicted from the footpaths. Doddappa, headquarters assistant to the Deputy Commissioner, received the memorandum.
