Guntur
By Our Staff Reporter
GUNTUR, JULY 22. Soil is being tested at the Kankaragunta railway crossing in Guntur for construction of a road overbridge that will reduce frequent traffic jams in the area. A feasibility study was done and a 980-meter bridge was proposed from the TJPS College to the Brodipet 14th lane-end. Testing was being done at an interval of one metre to know the soil conditions for sinking the right kind of pillars for the over-bridge to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 9.4 crores. The whole process was likely to take one month. Land acquisition had become a major constraint for grounding the project, though the foundation stone was laid long ago. With a little reduction in the height of the bridge the available land could be enough for the project and it was being verified by the R&B officials in consultation with the Railways.
