White Paper sought on State's finances

BANGALORE,
JULY 22.
The Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly, B.S. Yediyurappa, today asked the Government to bring out a White Paper on the financial position of the State.
Initiating the debate on the State Budget 2004-05, he said the budget indicated a deteriorating fiscal situation in the State in the past four years. The borrowings of the Government had increased from Rs. 12,465 crores in 1999 to Rs. 30,180 crores in 2004.
The former Chief Minister S.M. Krishna had presented a White Paper on State's finances in the Legislative Assembly in 2000, Mr. Yediyurappa pointed out.
