NAGPUR, JULY 22. Nagpur girl Vandana Joshi has made it to the Guinness Book of World Records with flying colours with the prestigious book recognising a `Rangoli' made by her as the largest of its kind in the globe. Guinness World Records, the publishers of the records book, have issued a certificate recognising a 466 square metres `Rangoli' made by her on February 7 this year as the ``World's Largest Rangoli Pattern''. The certificate and a letter recognising the effort as a world record was received by her a few days ago, a beaming Vandana told newspersons here yesterday. The earlier record of a `Rangoli' of 163 square metres was held by Ranvir Kour of Nottingham in the United Kingdom. Vandana made the record-breaking Rangoli, 80 feet in diameter, at the playground of a local school, using 2,000 kg of colours. The programme had been organised by the Nagpur Pratibha Junior Chamber. The organisers had then submitted their claim for a mention in the records book along with newspaper clippings, a video CD of the programme, a certificate of authenticity from Nagpur Mayor Vikas Thakre and a certificate of measurement from architect Vaishali Deshpande who is also a registered valuer. The record would be published in the next edition of the Guinness Book of World Records, Vandana said. UNI
