TIRUPATI, JULY 22. The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) introduced On-Line Inventory Management System (OLIMS) at its regional stores here on Thursday. By providing information on availability of inventory to the other stores in the State, the system eliminates unnecessary purchase of spare parts to the tune of Rs. 75 lakhs every month. The system was introduced first in 1994 in the Uppal stores, Hyderabad, and subsequently in all the regional stores. The extension of the facility to the Tirupati store marks the total linkage. Inaugurating the Rs. 14 lakh-project, the RTC's executive director (Cuddapah and Nellore zones), Y. Vijayakumar, said that the project includes comprised modules like purchase, receipts, stocking and distribution, tickets, tyres and disposal.
