MANGALORE, JULY 22. The 731st Urus of Hazrath Sayyed Baba Pakruddin Auliya, founder of Ajilamogaru Juma Masjid in Bantwal taluk, will be observed for three days from July 30. The mosque was built more than 800 years ago by Sayyed Baba Pakruddin, ruler of a Central Asian kingdom, who, according to history, gave up his throne as he could not come to terms with the poverty among his subjects. The president of the Juma Masjid management committee, P.B. Hussein Kunhi, said on Thursday that the ruler visited several nations in his quest for welfare of the mankind before settling down at Ajilamogaru. Mr. Kunhi said the urus was observed to remember the life and contributions of the ruler-turned-saint.
