MANGALORE, JULY 22. Members of the Highway Patrol Squad attached to the Panambur Police Station on Tuesday arrested three persons on charge of stealing motorcycles from Bajpe, Angaragundi, and Jokkatte and recovered six motorcycles valued at Rs. 1 lakh from them. With their arrests, the police claimed to have solved seven cases of two-wheeler theft. A departmental press release issued here today said the police arrested Ahmad of Bajpe near Panambur and seized the motorcycle he was riding. During questioning, Ahmad reportedly confessed to his involvement in vehicle theft along with four accomplices. The group had reportedly stolen seven motorcycles from Fr. Muller Hospital premises, State Bank, Clock Tower, Car Street, Lalbagh, Central Market, and other places, the police said. Based on his statement, police arrested Samad of Angaragundi and Sohail of Jokkatte and recovered six motorcycles from them. The police are on the lookout for Altaf of Pavoor and Shaukath of Jokkatte, who escaped. The release stated that efforts had been intensified for their arrest. The Panambur Police have registered a case. Investigation is on.
Injured
Two persons were injured when a goods tempo and a gas tanker collided at Adyarkatte near Adyar on National Highway 48 on Wednesday. The police said the tempo, in an attempt to overtake a lorry, rammed the tanker from the rear. The driver of the tempo has not been identified.
