CHENNAI, JULY 22. The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) legislators and members of Parliament will contribute funds from their Local Area Development schemes for victims of the July 16 Kumbakonam school fire.

Announcing this at the end of the party legislators' meeting, S. Ramadoss, founder, said the total contribution would be Rs. 27.5 crores. The money would be earmarked for schools run by the Government and local bodies for replacement of thatched roofs and improving amenities.

Dr. Ramadoss wanted the Government to relax norms in release of funds under the scheme so that the entire money would be provided for the victims.
