TIRUCHI, JULY 22. The Southern Railway General Manager V. Anand yesterday inspected the Central Workshops, Golden Rock and the Diesel Loco Shed here. Mr. Anand, who was given a warm reception by the Chief Workshop Manager, G. R. K. Raju and other senior officials during his visit, went around all shops inside the workshop. He flagged off 58 `Boxn- HS' wagons, which are fit to run at high speed of 100 km per hour. The wagons with increased height is meant for bulk commodity like coal, iron ore. The wagons have been manufactured for South West Railways. The General Manager also inspected the second steam loco meant for the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway and a three-tier air conditioned coach with modifications. Later, Mr. Anand opened a passenger reservation centre for railway pass holders and commissioned an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) of Syndicate Bank inside the Golden Rock colony. He also opened a gymnasium at Kallukuzhi playgrounds for the benefit of the railway staff. During his day-long visit, the General Manager held discussions with Golden Rock Workshop officials as well as with the divisional officials.
