VIJAYAWADA, JULY 22. The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) has requested the Vigilance Department to inquire into irregularities in the allotment of houses constructed under the Valmiki Ambedkar Awas Yogana (VAMBAY) Scheme, and the subsequent sale of houses by beneficiaries in Rajarajeswaripet. The Municipal Commissioner, V. Usha Rani, said the houses in the adjoining plots had been converted into shops. She said 63 persons residing on hill slopes had been asked to vacate their homes, keeping in view the danger to them in the event of landslides. Notices had been given to another 400 residents, urging them to make alterations, he said.
