SALEM, JULY 23. The Salem Fast Track Court II Judge, M. N. Mohammed Ali, today sentenced two youths to double life imprisonment for abducting and murdering a 9-year-old school boy for money near Attur during October last year. The Judge found the accused guilty of all charges filed under Sections 364 (A), 302 and 201 of IPC. He sentenced them to life imprisonments under Sections 364 (A) and 302 of IPC. In addition to the double life sentence, he also awarded them an additional seven years imprisonment under Section 201 of IPC. He further slapped a fine of Rs. 3,000 each and ordered that the sentences should run concurrently. According to the prosecution the duo Ayyappan (24) and Raja (20) of Krishnapuram near Gengavalli abducted Kannan (9), son of one Manoharan of Ammampalayam near Attur while he was returning from school. They rang up Mr. Manoharan and demanded a ransom of Rs. 4 lakhs for releasing the child. But before Mr. Manoharan could react to their demands, they killed the boy and buried his body in the sand of river Suvedha. Later Attur Police arrested both.
