Letters to the Editor
Sir, While the parents of the 93 children who lost their lives in the Kumbakonam school fire certainly need support, it is not essential to offer them high monetary compensation. The children were not the breadwinners of the family. The need of the hour is counselling and some monetary support to tide over the unexpected crisis. On the other hand, the survivors need high compensation for their treatment and rehabilitation. But they seem to be getting only secondary attention.
K. Subashankari,
Sir, The lot of the surviving children is worse as they have to live with the trauma. Their parents and relatives also have to go through emotional turmoil.
D. Lakshmi Narayanan,
