Tributes paid to Hiriyur Krishnamurthy

SHIMOGA, JULY 23. Mourners led by leaders representing a cross section of society paid homage to the Prant Sampark Pramukh of the RSS and eminent teacher, Hiriyur Krishnamurthy, here on Friday. Hiriyur Krishnamurthy died at a private hospital in Bangalore on Thursday.

They eulogised him for his contribution to the field of education in general and the RSS in particular. Those who spoke at the condolence meeting included the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly, B.S. Yediyurappa, the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, D.H. Shankarmurthy, the Shimoga MLA and the State General Secretary of the State BJP, K.S. Eshwarappa, the Secretary of the National Education Society and freedom fighter, Girimaji N. Rajgopal, the President of the district unit of the BJP, M.B. Bhanu Prakash, and the former Principal of the NES College of Education, Vaman Rao. The RSS leaders, Prabhakar Shetty, P.V. Krishna Bhat, K.C. Gopalakrishna, Pattabhiram, and the VHP leader, H.A. Narasimhamurthy Iyengar, recalled Hiriyur Krishnamurthy's contribution to strengthen the RSS in the region.
