House sites sought for TTD staff

By Our Special Correspondent

TIRUPATI. July 23. The Coordination Committee of the TTD Employees' Association on Friday took a delegation to the TTD Board members to impress upon them the need to allot house sites to the TTD employees in the Zoo Park area as the earlier attempts to provide the house-sites in the Peruru tank, Gollapalli and Mangalam areas have hit a roadblock due to court cases and other impediments.

The delegation led by its Convener, Thota Venkateswarlu, presented a memorandum to the TTD Board chairperson, T. Subbarami Reddy, listing their demands and pointed out some of the employees who have put in 25 to 30 years of service in the organisation were still languishing without a own dwelling place.

Plea for loan waiver

The Coordination Committee also urged the TTD to take a decision waiving housing loans on humanitarian grounds in the event of the death of the employee while in service. Another demand in their charter presented to the Board was with regard to the jobs to be provided on compassionate grounds to the wards of the deceased employees. The leaders complained that the scheme which was in vogue in the TTD in the past was now put on hold for some reason or other.

Jobs for wards urged

Similarly the Committee also called upon the Board to revive the system of providing jobs to the wards of the TTD staff who took voluntary retirement on health grounds. Among the other demands are the revival of the scheme to pay hill allowance/risk allowance to TTD staff as their job involved working on hill station and travel daily on the ghat-roads involving risk.

Felicitated

In a related incident, the TTD's Backward Classes Employees Welfare Association felicitated Janga Krishnamurthy MLA on his appointment as member of the TTD Trust Board.

The TTD's Special Grade Deputy Executive Officer, P.Balasubramanyam, President of the BC welfare Association, A.Mohan, General Secretary, G. Subramanyam and others participated.
