HYDERABAD, JULY 23 . The Finance Minister, K. Rosaiah, on Friday said the Singareni Collieries had drawn up a plan to commission 25 new projects at a cost of Rs. 3,635 crores by the end of the 12th Five Year Plan. In reply to a question by E. Rajender of the TRS, he said the opening of new mines must not be looked at from the angle of employment generation but that of raising the production of coal.
Probe into fund misuse
The Minister for Municipal Administration, Koneru Ranga Rao, said an enquiry into irregularities and misuse of funds in the laying of roads and drains in slum areas of the Peddapuram and Samalkot municipal areas, as alleged by Thota Gopala Krishna of the Congress, would be ordered.
Mini reservoirs' survey
The Minister for Minor Irrigation, A. Chandrasekhar, told Challa Ramakrishna Reddy of the Congress that a detailed survey on the summer and monsoon flow of the Kundu river in Kurnool district would be conducted. The survey would study the feasibility of locating mini reservoirs or checkdams in the river.
Bridge work soon
The Minister for Roads and Buildings, J. C. Diwakar Reddy, promised Ramavath Ravindra Kumar of the Communist Party of India that the bridge on the Deverakonda-Hyderabad road in Nalgonda district would be completed.
Study on wages
The Labour Minister, G. Vinod, told Nomula Narsimhaiah of the CPI(M) that the department would conduct a study of contract labour.
