`Substantial releases' from Alamatti hoped

HYDERABAD, JULY 23. There was guarded reaction from the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, on Friday to reports from Bangalore that the Karnataka Government had agreed to release Krishna waters from Alamatti dam to Andhra Pradesh tomorrow.

"It is good to hear that Karnataka has accepted our request for releasing water from Alamatti. I hope the quantity will be substantial," Dr. Reddy told reporters who sought his reaction.
