Seeks separate legislation

CHENNAI, JULY 23. The Indian Direct Selling Association (IDSA), a self-regulatory body of direct selling member companies in India, is seeking a separate legislation to govern the fast growing direct selling industry. Addressing presspersons here on Friday, William Pinckney, Chairman, IDSA, said direct selling offered jobs for millions of people. Unfortunately many unscrupulous players were involved in illegitimate pyramid schemes claiming as direct selling companies. To curb the activities of these players the association was demanding for a separate legislation, the chairman said.
