SYDNEY, JULY 23. The budding cricketers of Commonwealth Bank Centre of Excellence (CBCE) and Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) will tour India from July 28 to August 13. They will play two two-day matches and three one-dayers against the Indian National Academy and the State teams of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Head coach Bennett King said the 13-member squad had been selected from the 26 CBCE-AIS residential scholarship holders who have just completed their 13-week intensive programme at the CBCE in Brisbane. King said CBCE was part of the process to help talented players hone their skills and prepare for the next step in their careers. ``Travelling and learning to handle the conditions of the sub-continent is an important element for anyone who wants to play at the highest level. The experience this trip will provide will be invaluable to the players' development,'' he said. The players were selected on the basis of their form during the training period at the CBCE and on their potential to play first-class cricket. Craig Simmons, Adam Voges and Doug Bollinger have already made their domestic first-class debuts in the Pura Cup competition while Travis Birt and Brad Knowles have played in the ING Cup one-day competition.
