VELLORE, JULY 23. K. Sridhara, Chief General Manager, BSNL, Tamil Nadu Telecom Circle, Chennai has said that the Base Trans-receiver Stations (BTS) of 4000-line capacity would be set up in seven places in Vellore telecom district comprising Vellore and Tiruvannamalai districts this year, while another eight BTS stations of 6000-line capacity would be commissioned next year. Participating in a function organised by BSNL to present the Bharat Sanchar Sarathy and Sanchar Seva Padak Awards for 2003-2004 to meritorious employees and officers of BSNL, Vellore Telecom District here on Thursday, he said there was no real migration of BSNL landline customers. Those who had surrendered their landlines had gone in for BSNL mobile phones. Those who migrated to private cell services are coming back to BSNL, he said. The BSNL would concentrate on value-added services in Vellore telecom district where the revenue from this sector was low. It would be introducing cost-effective measures to reduce the price of its services, he said.
Customer satisfaction
The Vellore Collector, S. Gopalakrishnan, who gave away the awards appealed to the staff to accord the highest priority to customer satisfaction which was going to be its mainstay in future in the face of a heavy competition. S. Kullaiyan, driver in the office of the sub-divisional engineer (transmission maintenance), Vellore, V. Meenakshi, Senior Telecom Office Assistant (General) in the Telephone Revenue Accounting Unit, BSNL, Vellore and K.Loganathan, Telecom Technical Assistant in the office of the Sub-Divisional Officer, Telephones, Ranipet received the Bharat Sanchar Sarathi Awards. K. Venkatesan, SDE (Phones), Sathuvachari, T.N. Nallathambi, SDE (New Services), office of General Manager, BSNL, Vellore and P.V. Sathyamurthy, Divisional Engineer (Vigilance), BSNL, Vellore received the Sanchar Seva Padak Awards. K. Dakshinamoorthy, TM, office of SDO (E10B/NT/MDF), Vellore was honoured for his meritorious service in the Tamil Nadu Home Guards.
