Southern Railway in final

MADURAI, JULY 23. Southern Railway and Indian Overseas Bank, both from Chennai, entered the final of the 12th annual Rajamani-Kanagamaniammal Trophy State-level hockey tournament conducted by Reserve Line Sports Club in contrasting styles at Police centenary stadium here on Friday.

In the semifinals Southern Railway posted a 3-0 win over Sports Authority of India (SAI) Hostel, Chennai, whereas Indian Overseas Bank overcame the defending champion Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai 3-2 via tie-breaker. At the regulation time the teams were locked goalless.

Praveen, Gautham and Natarajan scored for Southern Railway.

Senthil, Gopinath and Arvind scored for I.O.B. in the tie breaker. Palapanidan and Rajendra Prasad scored for I.C.F. as Shanmugasundaram brought off saves from Yuvaraj (Jr.), Srikanth and Satheeshkumar.
