Srinath wins under-10 section

CHENNAI, JULY 23. N. Srinath, a sixth standard student of M. Ct. M Chidambaram Chettiyar HSS (Chennai) emerged the under-10 champion in the third Dubai junior chess championship held between July 11 and 19.

Srinath, who scored 6.5 points out of nine rounds, won $1,000 apart from the trophy. G. Madhukiran of Andhra Pradesh finished second.

In the under-12 category, S. Nithin of Salem (6.5 points) tied for the second to fifth places with Salehian Sina (Iran), Manoj Ghouri (India), Kauhestani and Shahin (both Iran). Homayoon Toufighi, with 7.5 points, took the title.

As many as 128 players from 14 countries took part in the event.
