KHAMMAM, JULY 23. Farmers with small land holdings contributed Rs. 1.04 lakhs for developing greenery in and around Charla, a remote village in Bhadrachalam division on Friday. The Collector, Arvind Kumar, planted a sapling in the junior college ground to mark the inauguration of `Green Charla' programme.
Special grant
announced
Impressed by the gesture of farmers who included some tribals and the unity demonstrated by them, Mr. Kumar announced grant of special funds for development of amenities in village schools. Speaking on the occasion he welcomed the initiative to develop greenery in the place and complimented the elected representatives and scribes of the village for their efforts to ensure success of the programme. He announced a grant of Rs. 15 lakhs for construction of a new building for the village high school. He assured that additional facilities would be provided in the girl's high school and junior college as well. He said the vacant teacher post in the village schools would be filled up with Vidya volunteers.
Help assured
The Collector said the district administration would extend all possible help for the implementation of `Green Charla' programme. He said the village could be included in the implementation of the Rashtriya Samavikas Yojana meant for development of amenities in remote and tribal areas. The district would get a share of Rs. 45 crores for implementation of the Yojana in a span of three years. The Bhadrachalam Sub-Collector, Neetu Prasad, and other officials were present.
