Varun enters final

MYSORE, JULY 23. Varun Gunasheelan (Chennai) registered an upset win over second seed Bruhath V. Raker (Kar) 6-3, 6-2 and entered the final in the boys' under-18 singles in the AITA Talent Series at the MTC courts here on Friday. Varun will meet top seed R.K. Praveen (Kar)in the final.

The results: Boys: Under-18 singles: Semifinals: R.K. Praveen (Kar) bt Vibhav M. Iyengar (Kar) 6-0, 6-0; Varun Gunasheelan (TN) bt Bruhath V. Raker (Kar) 6-3, 6-2; quarterfinals: R.K. Praveen (Kar) bt I.B. Abhishek (TN) 6-2, 6-0; Varun Gunasheelan (TN) bt Sagar G. Kashyap (Kar) 6-1, 6-2; Bruhath V. Raker (Kar) bt Yesh Bafna (Kar) 7-6 (7-2), 6-3; Vibhav M. Iyengar (Kar) bt Varun Shetty (Kar) 3-6, 6-4, 6-3.

Under-18 doubles: Semifinal: Yesh Bafna/ I. B. Abhishek bt Sagar G. Kashyap/ Harshavardhan T 7-6 (8-6), 7-5.

Under-14: Semifinal: A.N. Muddappa (Kar) bt J.R. Sandeep (TN) 6-1, 6-2
