KANCHEEPURAM, JULY 23. Two persons have been arrested in connection with an attempt to outrage the modesty of a Candian Buddhist monk, Elena Reimer, in a moving car on July 4 night near Oragadam. A thorough investigation by a special team fled to the arrest of Ranjan (27) of Chengalpattu and his car driver Raja (27) of Tirunelveli, said Mr. Prem Kumar. The two picked up the monk on G.S.T. Road after Reimer sought a lift in their car to reach Chennai. Instead of proceeding to Chennai, the culprits, reported to have been in an inebriated condition, took a left turn into Vandalur-Padapai Road after reaching Vandalur Railway Station. Subsequently, one of them tried to misbehave with the monk who resisted. In the process, Elena became unconscious. Fearing the woman had died, they threw her out along with her belongings at Oragadam and fled.
