Rain likely

One or two spells of rain or thundershowers is likely on Saturday.

At Waltair, the maximum temperature was 30.5 degree Celsius and the minimum 25.6 degree Celsius respectively on Friday. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 85 per cent and at 5.30 p.m. was 85 per cent. Rainfall at 8.30 a.m. was traced and at 8.30 p.m. was 32.6 mm. At airport, the maximum and minimum temperatures were 32.4 degree Celsius and 27.4 degree C respectively. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 74 per cent and at 5.30 p.m. was 75 per cent. Rainfall at 8.30 a.m. was 0.7 mm. and at 8.30 p.m. was 12.5 mm.

The maximum and minimum temperatures at the Dolphin's Nose were 30.1 degree Celsius and 23.9 degree Celsius respectively. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 89 per cent. Rainfall at 8.30 a.m. was traced.

State-level

cultural events

Vizag Dance Academy will conduct State-level music and dance competitions at the VUDA Children's Theatre on Saturday. Fancy dress (below 10 years), singing (below eight, nine to 16 and above 17 year categories) and dance (below eight, eight to18 and above 19 year categories) will be conducted at the venue from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Prizes will be distributed on Sunday.

PMRY interviews

The second round of interviews for selecting candidates under the PMRY scheme for 2004-05 for urban areas of Visakhapatnam would be held from Monday to July 31.

A District Industries Centre (DIC) release said that eligible candidates could attend the interviews, being held in the city, Gajuwaka, Anakapalle and Bheemunipatnam, with original certificates of education, income and residence. Details can be had by contacting the DIC (Tel: 2558166 & 2558165).

BSNL customer

meetings

TheBharatiya Sanchar Nigam Limited,Visakhapatnam Telecom District, will hold customer meetings on Monday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at three places covering the entire district.

According to its General Manager, J. Ganta, the meetings will be held at the conference hall on the II Floor of GM Telecom District office in Dwarakanagar II lane, office of the Divisional Engineer, Telecom, in Anakapalle, and DE Telecom office in Chodavaram.

The Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited of AP has been forced to give load reliefs to rural areas and feeders of mandal headquarters for about two hours in the morning and two hours in the afternoon, according to its Superintending Engineer (operations circle) here on Friday. However, three-phase supply to agricultural consumers was being maintained for seven hours a day as scheduled and any shortfall during the day might be compensated during the night

The new premises of State Bank of India's Kailasapuram branch, located on the Akkayyapalem main road here, was formally inaugurated by the bank's General Manager, Syed Shahabuddin, on Friday. The SBI would open personal banking branches to serve its customers better.
