Stone laid for road

VIJAYAWADA, JULY 23. The Vijayawada, Guntur, Tenali, Mangalagiri Urban Development Authority chairman, Malladi Vishnu, on Friday laid the foundation stone for works pertaining to laying of a concrete road connecting the bypass road with the NH 9 at Bhavanipuram. The works on the 100-ft road are estimated to cost Rs. 52 lakhs which will be shared equally by the UDA and the managers of the wholesale commercial complex at Gollapudi.

The first phase of the works have been entrusted to the RITES, the technical support agency, which is also engaged in the construction of the flyover. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Vishnu stressed the need for the different departments in the Government to work in close coordination for ensuring quality of the works and their completion in time.

The city Police Commissioner, T. Krishna Prasad, the VGTM-UDA vice-chairman, V.N. Vishnu, and the Vijayawada Chamber of Commerce and Industry president, Gaddam Subba Rao, were present.
