Around the City

1.5mm rainfall recorded

Gannavaram airport recorded a maximum temperature of 33 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 23.6 degrees Celsius on Friday. Humidity which was 83 per cent in the morning increased to 89 per cent in the evening. A rainfall of 1.5 mm was recorded.

No power supply

There will be no power supply between 7 a.m. and 12 noon on Saturday in some areas under Patamata section following a pre-arranged shutdown for reinforcement of conductor. The affected areas are: R.R. Gardens, Postal Colony, Maruthi Colony and Karanamgari St. Power supply will also be not available between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m. in Mayor St, Veeranna St, SRR College area, Revenue Colony, Maruthinagar, Machavaram, Anjaneya Swamy Temple area and BSNL (HT).

Commodity prices

The following were the prices (in rupees per kg) of the essential commodities in the local wholesale markets on Friday: groundnut oil - 53, palmolein oil - Rs. 45, sunflower oil - Rs. 53, tamarind (flower variety) - Rs. 31 to 35, tamarind (karipuli variety) - Rs. 40 to 45, chillies (AC) - Rs. 24 to 28, chillies (non-AC) - Rs. 14 to 18, rice (2716) - Rs. 13, rice (superfine) - Rs. 14 to 15, rice (samba masoori) - Rs. 15 to 25, black gram - Rs. 19 to 25, red gram - Rs. 22.50 to 32.

Blood donation camp

1-Andhra EME company, NCC, Vijayawada, organised a blood donation camp at Bharatinagar on Friday. As part of the camp, 90 NCC cadetsvolunteered to donate blood to the Rotary Redcross Bllok Bank. Ayurveda camp tomorrow

Santhigiri Ayurveda and Siddha Vaidyasala will organise a free Ayurveda medical consultation camp at Bishop Grassi High School at Gunadala on July 25. Patients suffering from problems like joint pains, muscular pains, psoriasis and other skin diseases can avail themselves of the offer and they will be given 10 per cent discount on medicines. The medicines used by Santhigiri are approved by the CGHS, New Delhi.
