Temperature

MADURAI, JULY 23 .The city today registered a maximum temperature of 37.4 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 26.3 degrees Celsius.

Water level

The level in the Periyar dam today stood at 118.20 feet with a storage of 2303 mcft. The inflow was 503 cusecs with a discharge of 900 cusecs. The level in the Vaigai dam was 41.54 feet with an inflow of 548 cusecs and a discharge of 900 cusecs. The combined Periyar credit was 3298 mcft. The amounts of

rainfall recorded at various places in the last 24 hours: Periyar dam — 5 mm, Tekkadi, Gudalur and Shanmuganadi — 3 mm each and Uthamapalayam — 2 mm.

Free bus service

The Sethu Institute of Technology, Kariapatti, has arranged free bus services for the Common Entrance Examination of self-financing colleges on July 24 and 25. The institute is one of the examination centres. The buses would ply from Mattuthavani, Anna Nagar, Periyar and Aarappalayam bus stands, according to a release. On July 24, the buses would start at 12 noon, 12.30 p.m. and 12.45 p.m. On July 25, the buses would start at 7 a.m., 7.30 a.m. and 7.45 a.m.
